The ACS Office of LGBTQ Child and Family Well-Being raises awareness and helps make sure that all of our services are affirming of LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning) youth and families.

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), formerly known as the (Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association (HBIGDA), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, interdisciplinary professional and educational organization devoted to transgender health. Our professional, supporting, and student members engage in clinical and academic research to develop evidence-based medicine and strive to promote a high quality of care for transsexual, transgender, and gender-nonconforming individuals internationally.

People who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) are members of every community. They are diverse, come from all walks of life, and include people of all races and ethnicities, all ages, all socioeconomic statuses, and from all parts of the country. The perspectives and needs of LGBT people should be routinely considered in public health efforts to improve the overall health of every person and eliminate health disparities.

HHS works to ensure that LGBTQ+ people, their families, and communities receive equal access to health services by providing enhanced resources for LGBTQ+ health issues; developing better information regarding LGBTQ+ health needs; and working to close the LGBTQ+ health disparities gap that currently exists.

This bill would require the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to, during initial intake and classification, and in a private setting, ask each individual entering into the custody of the department to specify the individual’s gender identity whether the individual identifies as transgender, nonbinary, or intersex, and their gender pronoun and honorific. The bill would prohibit the department from disciplining a person for refusing to answer or not disclosing complete information in response to these questions.

President Biden issued a proclamation affirming June 2021 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Pride Month, marking a time a time of hope, progress, and promise for LGBTQ+ Americans across the country.

This bill went into effect January 1, 2020. It doesn't change much, just emphasizes protections for transgender prisoners.

OVC’s overall mission is to improve the Nation’s capacity to address the needs of crime victims. The current report focuses on how OVC has used its resources on behalf of victims of human trafficking. This effort has been facilitated by the passage of the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000. Prior to the enactment of TVPA, OVC conducted a focus group to learn more about the needs of trafficking victims. The TVPA authorized funding for OVC in supporting organizations that identify and provide comprehensive services to victims of human trafficking.

This brief presents opportunities to improve caseflow management and outcomes for criminal court defendants who have behavioral health needs. These strategies are based on a virtual learning collaborative hosted by The Council of State Governments Justice Center, along with the National Center for State Courts, that brought together nine interdisciplinary teams from across the country.
