As of December 31, 2021, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of the State of Alabama correctional authorities was 25,032 located in 14 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. State operated facilities had a budget of $562,693,657.
The Community Corrections System
As of December 31, 2021, Alabama community corrections population was 42,885 under probation and 7,815 under parole.
